Ryan Houder has spent two decades partnering with disruptive companies and investors, building an extensive global network across the technology domains shaping our future. His approach combines the rigor of retained executive search with a practitioner’s understanding of what growth-stage organizations actually require — not just the candidate on paper, but the leader who can navigate the inflection point ahead.
Two decades of engagement across disruptive technology sectors have built a network that spans the talent markets most firms have never entered — artificial intelligence, aerospace & defense, energy, robotics, advanced materials, consumer, health & longevity, and beyond. Ryan places executives across every function and investment professionals with the funds he partners with, bringing the same precision to each engagement regardless of sector or role.
Beyond search, Ryan serves as an operating partner with select venture funds, providing hands-on talent and organizational support directly to portfolio companies. This role gives him a perspective few search practitioners have: he understands what investors need from leadership, what founders actually face at scale, and where those two realities converge. He is also an investor and LP in select companies and funds — aligning his interests directly with the outcomes his clients are building toward.
Ryan began his career in Chicago with a retained boutique executive search firm focused on the automotive and aerospace industries. He also serves as a mentor for several disruptive accelerator and incubator organizations. He studied political science, economics, and business at Indiana University and is based in the Austin area, where he lives with his wife and three kids.
